This multifaceted artist navigates between video, engraving, photo, painting, drawing, sculpture, installation and performance. At the shop, we imagined an wonderfully nonsensical project inspired by the famous Pirelli calendar: a suite of 12 linocuts — one for each month — printed in electric blue and presented in a box set with an enigmatic title, The erotic diary of a lumberjack. Carved in his beautifully expressive line, the hybrid figures illustrate the artist’s own text about a capricious young woman named Lola ... the first of Toguo’s works acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
