All New Ghosts began as a crazy idea: to imagine a project that breaks the traditional rules of making an artist's book, which typically involves producing editions where every copy is identical. But here, the book is composed mostly of monotypes — unique prints that, by definition, can only be made once. While the images appear in the same sequence throughout the book, each print is one of a kind, challenging traditional notions of editions, series, and reproducibility.
In collaboration with Christian Schwarzwald, we approached drawing and printing as shared experiments, as ways to explore form, space, and perception. Christian’s use of unconventional tools — pastry bags, spatulas, squeegees, graffiti markers, and rollers — that feel like an extension of the body, blurring the boundary between hand and machine and producing images that oscillate between the recognizable and the abstract. Throughout the book, image and text engage in a fluid relationship, linked by an original poem that weaves through the pages.
This collaboration resulted in one of the most demanding and rewarding projects
we've undertaken. All New Ghosts is as much about the process as the final product — a dialogue between printing and poetry that redefines what an edition can be.

Christian Schwarzwald
Born in 1971 in Salzburg (Austria).
Lives and works in Berlin.
In 2015, after a few trials, we made a series of nine monotypes that Schwarzwald painted freehand: dynamic abstracts in black and pale blue at a very large format. Three days of physical, intense work were like a performance. We invented an unorthodox method borrowing materials from graffiti artists, including rollers, stamps and extra-wide markers. After making each drawing on Plexiglas, he manipulated the shapes and colour masses in fluid, energetic gestures; they were then printed very quickly, to keep their freshness.
